2010 Super GT Rd 5 Sportsland Sugo

It's been a week since the actual race and thanks to being a bit busy here and there I'm finally getting around to writing about it.  I was really looking forward to this round since it meant that my favorite team would be returning with their all new Porsche 911 GT3R.  I was also looking forward to more Race Queen pictures and videos.  While there were more pictures there hasn't been any new videos that I've been able to find.  But hey watching the race was fun too. The 5th round of the Super GT series took place at Sportsland Sugo one of the longest tracks and layout of the Super GT series.  The best thing about the race was the finish with some interesting results.

But before we get to that lets take a look at the rest of the race.  With it being the fifth round the extra success weights are playing a major factor in both classes which made it a race for the lighter cars.   While I would like to blog lots about the return of the Goodsmile Racing team and their new Porsche 911 GT3R they just didn't have a large presence in the race but they were able to get a respectable 12th place finish in it's class of course that still leaves them well back in the pack for points placing them in 19th place in the overall point standings.  Still it was nice to see them back racing again.

The rest of the GT300 race was dominated by the lighter cars with the Apple K-one Shiden starting from pole and finishing in first with the 350Z of Hasemi Sport and for it's first time on a podium the RT-01 EVA Racing team.  The race to the finish for the GT300 cars was fraught with bumps and spins some from other cars and some thanks to the slight drizzle that occurred late in the race.

The best part of the race was the much more interesting GT500 race.  It started off with the pole winning Motul Autech GTR well out into the lead and looking to easily finish the race in first until the cutoff switch on the car's roof was hit by debris from another crash.  The Motul GT-R lost power and stopped right before the last turn with only 8 laps to go.  This left the then second place Weider Honda HSV-010 and third place Keihin Honda HSV-010 to fight for first place. And fight they did.  The GT500 finish was the closest recorded come from behind win with only 25thousandths of a second seperating the 1st place win by Keihin and the second place Weider followed several seconds later by the third place finisher ENEOS SC430.

With the closest finish finally in the books a look at the point totals makes it look like it's still anyone's game to win at the end of the year. With the top spot in GT300 only separated by a point per position for 1st through 3rd and only a handful of points separating the rest of the field down to 10th the remaining three pointed rounds will be nail biters.  The GT500 series isn't as close but it's still anyone's guess as to who will come out on top. The next round at the Suzuka Circuit for the 39th Pokka GT Summer Special will happen on the 22nd of August.

As always our friend on YouTube PM910 posted up a ten minute recap of the race for us to check out.

RQ Team: RT Evangelion Race Queen

It's finally Friday which means it's time for the next Race Queen Team feature.  This week's team is the third and last anime related team.  I am glad I waited a while to do this team as they just added a new member during the last round of the Super GT at Sportsland Sugo. I'm talking about Team RT Evangelion Race Queen.  These ladies represent the GT300 Team APR Toyota Corolla Axio with it's colorful color scheme made to look like the Eva unit 01.  I blogged about it's entry into the Super GT race season some time ago and now it's time to take a look at the lovely Race Queens for the team.

The team started out with two Race Queens representing Rei and Asuka and they just recently, during the fifth round of Super GT, introduced the third member representing Mari .  The three ladies are Noa Mizutani (水谷望愛), Yuuna Chiba (千葉悠凪) and Izumi Terumi (和泉テルミ) who at the moment doesn't have a Qblog entry and I don't know if she will.  But I did finally find her blog and Kanj name after a few hours of hit and miss guess work using several different pages since not a single place that actually mentioned her joining the group thought to toss up her blog or her name in Kanji.  So already my blog is better than all the rest just because of that.  Well I'd like to think so anyways.  Usually at this point I also remark on the teams race queen uniform however unlike other teams this team is more into cosplay which is fine by me.  Each of the Race Queen's uniforms are made to resemble the plug suits worn by the anime characters.

Enough of that though lets get to some pictures.  While trying to find a blog for Izumi I found a few pages worth a look.  As well as the standard Race Queen pages that I normally blog about.  I did also look to see if any of the Ladies had done pro-work but as far as I could find none of them have done anything for the three big guys.  So with that out of the way lets look at the other stuff.

Asahi.com entry on the announcement of Mari
ManTanWeb entry on Mari and Evangelion World
ASCII.jp coverage of the Mari and Evangelion World announcement
RT-01 EVA Racing Race Queen page
Photoshoot of Noa Mizutani in and out of her Race Queen uniform
Photoshoot of Yuuna Chiba in and out of her Race Queen uniform as well

Now for the regular Race Queen stuff

NocternoX: July 24, 2010

Last weekend was the second of three NocternoX autocross events for 2010 and the first one that I staid at until the end.  Although I'll be honest I could have just gone home at the end of dusk because the videos and pictures after that just kind of sucked in my opinion I entirely gave up on pictures because no matter what I tried I just couldn't get anything to look good once the sun went down.  Also I got burned.  But it was still fun.

The reason for the NocternoX is because there was another Evolution Driving school happening during the day and it didn't end until 5pm.  I got there about 3pm and took some paddock shots of the cars showing up for the NocternoX and a few of the cars that were there for the Driver's school.  While waiting for the NocternoX event to start I was just floating around seeing what was going on.  Once the NocternoX got underway and I found my place to shot from I got down to taking pictures and video.

When it gets hot out attendence drops at autocross events even during the night events and while there was still more than 80 cars and drivers out it was a drop from earlier events.  Some thing I did discover much later that night when I got home and took a shower.  I burned my leg even though I was wearing jeans.  Apparently it was just that hot outside.  Also there wasn't anything new and cool out racing it was just the usual suspects this time around and while the roommate was really looking forward to taking the newly finished NA RX8 those dreams where crushed when the RX8 decided to blow a hole through the radiator.  Major suckage there for sure.

At the end of the day other than getting burned and having a hard time getting pictures and videos after the I got home and started in on editing the pictures from the event.  I ended up with about 150 pictures all said and done along with 155 videos as well.

Nastyville Car Show

So this last Saturday before heading out to another autocross event I found out about a small car show happening just down the street from out house.  It was supposed to start at about 8 am but by the time I checked it out at 10am there wasn't anything there but a handful of lowrider trucks which didn't interest me in the slightest so I didn't even bother getting out of the car.  I even stopped back on my way home from an errand to see if anything else showed up and other than more lame ass lowriders there wasn't anything there.

So why am I blogging about it then?  Well in the afternoon one of our friends called up the roommate to tell him he was there with a few other IMSers and that we should stop by.  Well what the hell I'll take the camera just in case and snap some pictures.

So yeah more lowriders than anything but our friend had his Mazdaspeed Protege there and he was able to win best Import Tunner (yes that's right I said Tunner) of course he was only competing against a couple slammed lowrider craptactualer Hondas so it wasn't much of a competition really but hey winning is winning after all.

I still hate lowrider trucks and cars with hydraulics with a passion but it was fun to hang out with friends all the same.  Here is a link to the pictures that I did take.  Mostly the cool import cars but a few of the low riders in their little how low can you go game that seriously probably could have ended badly with the way the had things laid out.  Oh yeah here's the link -- Nastyville set

RQ Team: Weider Girl

It's Friday again and that means it's time for another Race Queen Team feature.  So what team shall it be this week.  Let's go with the GT500 team for the Weider Honda HSV-010.  Team Weider Girl.  Which in this case is two girls actually.  And they are a cute pair of ladies that's for sure.
If you're like me you've probably wondered what exactly is Weider anyways since it's a new team sponsor for this year.  After some digging and searching and head scratching I found out that Weider is a health food type company that markets dietary supplements.  You'll often find the girls holding up a small silverish pouch which turns out to be one of their more famous products called Weider-in Jelly that is a jelly like energy drink.  The company is sold under an agreement with Weider Nutrition which is an arm of Weider Health and Fitness Inc which is owned by Joe Weider.  So basically Weider replaced Rock Star this year as the Energy Drink sponsor.  But hey you're not here for that you're here for the hot Race Queens.

Team Weider Girl is made up of the cute pair of ladies Arisa (新倉有沙) and Sawaguchi Keiko (沢口けいこ) who are rocking the short shorts, tube top (occasionally a jacket as well) and go-go boots in a white with Red and Blue accents.  to match the Weider logo.  The girls also wear red or blue leggings (except during the last round at Sepang were it was just too damn hot to do so) Arisa wears red leggings and Keiko wears the blue leggings.

Arisa hasn't done any pro-photosets but Keiko has done a little bit of work for Top Queen and Maid Queenz neither one of them has done anything with RQ-star and just a little update about those links it looks like a good number of them are coming back slowly from different sources so you can still go out there and find them but I'm going to chose not to post those links this time.  That's not stopping me from posting the other links though.

2010 Racing Miku petit nendoroid ver 2

I reviewed the newly unveiled Racing Miku Porsche 911 GT3R but there is more.  Not only did Good Smile Racing unveil a new car but they also unveiled a new set of petit nendoroid trading figure set as well.  The first version only had the one Racing Miku figure and the older 911 GT3RSR while the new version comes with an addition two figures and the new car.  The new set was unveiled by the figures real life Race Queen counterparts at a press conference after the unveiling of the new car .

Once again though the new set is only available at one online retailer and only if you live in Japan or want to use a proxy buying outfit.  However unlike other sets if you just want the figures without all the sponsor bits you can finally go that route and for a little bit less at only 3500yen.  The sponsor set is 4500yen and includes a decal sheet a sponsor card and card holder.   At the moment you can get all sorts of cool swag from Good Smile Racing for however much you want to spend on a sponsorship.  I'd love to fork over $500 for a Good Smile Racing umbrella but yeah that's not going to happen.

You can find the set at it's original Japanese Online Retail site here -- Niconico Chokuhan  The pre-order window is already open and of course you'll have to wait until November to actually get them.  Here is the press release in Japanese from ASCII.

A little bit more about the set.  The set includes three figures and in addition to Racing Miku you also get Rin Kagamine and Luka Megurine all dressed in the Race Queen/mechanic outfits like the real Race Queens for Good Smile Racing.  Each one of the girls also gets their own pit item as well.  You also get the new Porsche 911 GT3R with new livery in a small pullback miniature form unlike the older Z4 models that could fit the figures in the car you can't do that with this one and I'm actually really thankful for that.  I thought that was a ugly part of the old Z4 car.

Racing Miku 997 GT3R

We said good bye to the 996 GT3 RSR back in May and with only a week before the 5th round of the 2010 Super GT the new and improved Racing Miku Porsche 911 has finally been unveiled.  The new Racing Miku is a 2010 Porsche 997 GT3R,  the most current 911 race car to date.  In addition to the new car is a new Livery as well which was just unveiled for the first time this week.

Good Smile Racing received the new 997 GT3R back at the end of May all nice and shiny in it's pure white form.  I've been following it's progress from there to it's final unveiling at ASCII.jp and on GSR's various web sites since then.  During that time the 997 GT3R received a simple Porsche Motorsports livery during it's time testing and tuning. During that time there was a sweepstakes going on to design the new Racing Miku Livery.  There was some really cool looking designs.  I had also found a sneak peak of what the new Livery might look like but this week we finally found out what the new Livery looked like and the sneak peak was totally off.

The new Livery looks even better this time around.  Racing Miku has a larger presence on the front of the car and they changed the color scheme up a little bit making it more linear and colorful.  While I haven't found any real high quality images of the new car so far I'm sure I'll find a few after the upcoming race this next weekend at Sportsland Sugo.  It'll be an even more interesting race for one of the drivers as that is also his home town so for him I'm sure it'll be an epic race.  I just can't wait to see it back in action next weekend.  You can find more pictures of the unveiling here -- ASCII

RQ Team: JIMGAINER Tiger Gal

It's Friday again and that means it's time for another Race Queen Team feature.  This week it's the lovely ladies from team JIMGAINER Tiger Gal.  This is one part of the duel Race Queen team that supports the GT300 Jim Gainer Racing Ferrari F430 which is currently sitting in 7th place for the 2010 Super GT season after it's most successful outing during the 4th round at Sepang.   But lets get to the Race Queens shall we.

The JIMGAINER Tiger Gal Race Queen team is made up of 2 lovely ladies (there are another 2 Race Queens who support another racing series as well) and they are Rina Ito (伊東りな) and Maria Kotoha (琴葉マリア).  One of the cool things I found out about one of the Race Queens while I was looking around for info and what not is the Rina Ito is not only a Race Queen but an actual racer car driver as well.  That automatically adds cool points to her for sure.    This is another Race Queen team that is sporting the short shorts with bikini(?) top and jacket look but this one is slightly different with the leggings and Military style hat.  It's an all black with yellow accent look that looks smoking hot on the ladies.  It doesn't hurt that those have to be the tightest and shortest of the short shorts as well.

Speaking of smoking hot lets post up some picture links.  Unfortunately since the RQ-star links have all been taken down I can't post those any more even though Maria Kotoha has started doing sets for them. Ok so she only did one set so far but that means there are more in the works. That's the only professional work that I found for either girl though.

On the other side there isn't that many pictures of them out yet which is a shame.  Hopefully they get a bit more coverage during the rest the of the race season.  Which means you should check out the main sites after the races for additional images.

2010 Northwest Motorfest

I was getting ancy not taking any pictures of cars and my blog was turning into a Race Queen feature only blog so I was happy to hear about the Northwest Motorfest.  Billed as the largest car show in Idaho and with the numbers to back that up I grabbed my camera and headed down early in the day on Saturday to snap some pictures.  I went another year and I was not really that disappointed so I had high hopes for this year's car show as well.  Until I took a quick look around.

This year's featured cars were those nasty ass boring as hell Rat Rods that are scratching out a lil' nitch in the automotive car scene.  Honestly I could do without the rust.  Some of them looked nice but really the rest of it looked like trash that some gardener would have tossed out on their lawn as a rust relic time piece with the ol' cow skull and what not.  I'll be glad when that scene finds it's way into the history book.

Last year also saw a lot more Import and Euro flavor than what was out here this year.  However what was here was pretty nice.  A Toyota Crown...didn't know that was here.   Several wrong hand drive original Mini's and other old school English cars.  I did spy on my walk through early on a single Porsche 911 off in the distance and made a bee-line straight for it only to be disappointed in the cars fogged over head lights and to me pretty lame airbrush work.  Other than that it was a pretty nice 911.

Even the 4X4 rock crawling attendance looked smaller.  I didn't have the patience to stand around in the hot air waiting for the rock crawling event or the 100' drag racing event which I watched last year but Drag racing bores me and rock crawling is just two slow for me so I just kept on shooting pictures.  So while those groups looked smaller and the Rat Rods turning it up that only left the Muscle car and hot rods scene to drive the attendance up to a record number of cars and people.

The only problem with the Muscle Car and Hot Rods is that to me I keep seeing a lot of the same old same old at every car show and with nothing updated or changed.  Just how long has that Ford Mustang racer been missing that door hing bolt? But I'm still there to take pictures and that I did.  Of course one thing I really don't like about the set up of the car show is how they law out cars and how the people set up their temporary home right around their cars.  Makes for taking good pictures rather difficult because I don't think it's polite to tell the fat lady in the car to mover ass away from the car so I can get a clean shot of it.  Of course none of this I can fix and I just have to deal with it as a photographer and a simple member of the audience there to look at the cars.  Even though I liked the Porsche 911 it wasn't the show piece actually for me there isn't a show piece,  something that stands out so much that I have to write home about it right away.

Although I have to admit that I'm glad I went to this instead of the Import Summer Jam that was also going on later in the afternoon.  When I got home my feet were sore,  I was hot hot hot and damn thirsty but I think I got a pretty decent amount of pictures of the event but I just wish there were Euro and Imports there.  I miss the Import show.  You can check out my entire set of pictures here -- flickr

RQ Team: HANKOOK Lady

So here it is another weekly RQ Team feature.  This week's feature Race Queen team is HANKOOK Lady.  They are of course the Race Queen team for the Hankook KTR team that is running a 911 GT3RSR in the GT300 class.  While I love my Good Smile Racing team they can't compare to how good the Hankook KTR team has been this year, currently it's in 13 place (1st out of  the Porsches) in the GT300 class.  Now I don't know how much the Race Queen's play into that fact (OK, I know they don't)  but they are definitely a nice site to see out there.

The HANKOOK Lady Race Queen team is a three member team comprised of Hiroko Yoshino (よしのひろこ), Yoshi Musume (荒木よし穂) and Yurie Asada (浅田ゆりえ).  The romanized names should be pretty close as I used RQ-star and their blog pages but if there's anything wronglet me know and I'll fix them.  You can almost always count on Hankook Race Queens to have some interesting outfits whether for Super GT or other racing leagues the Hankook Race Queens will always have something different but always in White with Orange and Silver accents.  This year they are sporting an interesting cut super mini skirt with a peek-a-boo long sleeved midriff shirt with exposed Orange bra part.  It's a pretty interesting looking outfit that's for sure. But I liked last year's outfit a whole heck of a lot more.

It looks like Hiroko Yoshino has been busy with the professional photo shoots from last year and this year.

RQ Team: Rire Racing Girls

Remember many moons ago when I was doing the RQ Team:JLOC and how there was a third team that while it had a JLOC car the Race Queen team was from a different team.  Well that Race Queen team is Rire Racing Girls and not only do the girls support the Super GT GT300 car number 88 but they also support other Rire Racing programs including Porsche Carrera Cup Japan, Super FJ and Super Taikyu so the girls are rather busy.  You can check out Rire Racing's official page for more information on their racing programs.

More importantly though you can check out the girls on their own official page as well at Rire Racing Girls.  In total there are 8 girls in the RQ Team of which only 4 of them make up the Super GT team.  Those ladies are Kasumi Suzuki (すずきかすみ), Konishi Kair (小西かいり), Mirei Kurosawa (黒沢美怜) and Sato Megumi Sasaki (佐崎愛里).  Of course those are all from Google Translate so could very easily be wrong and I'll change them if I ever find out their right names.  As for their Race Queen outfits I believe this is the first RQ Team that I've featured that goes with a mini skirt instead of the short shorts.  Wonder how many low anglers have tried to get some upshots and if the ladies are wearing shorts under there.  Oh the ponderings of a Race Queen fan.  Of course they still rock those long go-go boots and skimpy little jacket tops. The ladies wear either a red or a white beret hat as well.

You'll probably find a bunch of pictures in the links from the other ladies who are not part of the Super GT Team in the links as well but I don't think you'll really mind that will you.  No, didn't think so.

On the pro side of things it looks like so far only Mirei Kurosawa has taken the plunge with sets from all three major groups. The only problem is that most of them are old.  I haven't been able to find the Rire Racing set any were on the internet though.   If you know do share.
