10 Days to Oktoberfast

It's October (or will be in a couple hours) and that means it's time for another big Porsche car show here in Boise, ID.  On 10/10/10 the Silver Sage PCA club will be holding their annual Oktoberfast Car show which used to be called the Annul Ernie Ludwig Memorial Car show in honor a former member of the Silver Sage club who passed on several years ago.

As an obsessive lover of Porsches you know I'm going to attending and taking pictures like a mad man.  This would be my third year of going to this car show and it has only been growing every year with more and more interesting cars showing up every year.  Last year was a nice year with all the older Whale Tails in attendance. The best pictures I have are from last years event and you can check them out on flickr at the following set --> 2009 Oktoberfast Car Show

I just can't wait.  But one question, what the hell ever happened to the Italian Car and Bike show that also usually happened at around the same time?  I haven't heard anything about it for the past two years and I'm kind of disappointed.  I just wish that the local dealer would try harder to get something cool from the parent company as a show stopper oh say like the new hybrid GT3R race car or maybe even any of the new models just announced.  Maybe even just something cooler than just some base models.

UPDATE: Event coverage is here -- 2010 Oktoberfast

FOR SALE: RWB Stella Artois

This couldn't wait for another day. I was just cruising through RWB's blog looking for new pictures (found a few) and then I saw a post that made my jaw drop. It was a post that said the famous Rauh-Welt 930/964 Porsche nicknamed Stella Artois was for sale. I don't know if I want that news to be fake or real. All I know is that's it's another reason to post more RWB goodness.

You can find the actual blog post HERE (any one care to translate it? And not Google Translate either) and while it doesn't say much that's pretty par for course on their blog. Oddly enough though in the picture the car is rocking a different set of rims.  Also I found out they had another RWB meeting the 24th of September so I hope there is another posting of pictures soon.  I jacked this wallpaper from Speedhunters who have been good about posting RWB content over the years and has a pretty insightful post on just the Stella Artois car.

Now all I have to do is win the lottery or get several thousand people do donate like $10 so that I can go buy that beauty bring it to the States and rip it the hell around Miller Motorsports Park or at least take it to Autocross as the baddest Motherf***r around.  Or something like that.  But I'd want to put the back bumper back on it and ditch that odd exhaust system on it for a more traditional setup.  I'd also have to talk them into letting me buy the right set of rims too. You can tell in the videos that the Stella Artois has gone through a lot of changes through out it's short life time.

[UPDATE] -- February 11, 2011, I've seen the car in pictures that have recently surfaced on a forum and Nakai-san still has Stella and is still using it as his track car.  But you should see what he's using now as his demo car.  SWEETNESS.  There will be an update soon.

More RWB video goodness

Before it got the odd tri-tailpipe exhaust

RQ Team: Sunoco Image Girl

Happy 75th post.  This week's Race Queen Team feature post is the 75th post on this blog.  To help celebrate this moment is the lovely Sunoco Image Girl who is another Race Queen for the Samurai Team Tsuchiya or better known as the GT300 Zent Porsche RSR.  The Zent Porsche hasn't been out that often this year and has only been in three of the Super GT races this year so far. With a couple OK results (third race was a DNF) it has found the team in 15th position going into the 8th round in October.

The Race Queens supporting the GT300 Zent Porsche are two of the six Zent Sweeties that I've already covered way back at the start of things and Oyama Miho (大山美保) as the Sunoco Image Girl.  She isn't just a Race Queen for Super GT either.  You'll also find her as a Race Queen for Formula Nippon, Super Taikyu and even Formula Drift if I remember correctly.  She's a rather busy Race Queen for being her first year out. Her outfit is the same for all of the series so sometimes it's hard to tell what pictures are Super GT until she's near another Race Queen or in front of the car.  Speaking of her outfit it's a standard mini skirt, halter top and jacket outfit with high heels and leggings.  You don't see many Race Queens this year with the crazy bell bottom leggings like last year and for a while I thought her leggings were actually boots.  In any case the outfit is a dark blue with yellow highlights number

I looked around to find out if she's done any of the professional Race Queen photography sites and as far as I can tell she hasn't been featured in any of those groups so we'll just skip right on to the regular Race Queen pictures.  I know there only a handful of races left for the Super GT series but remember to check in with the main sites after the races for updates.

This one's special as they are celebrating Oyama Miho's Birthday.

Porsche 911 Speedster

Yes the Speedster is back. I remember having a picture of a Mexico Blue 911 speedster on one of my High School binders for the longest time. I didn't like any of the other cabriolet designs with that big rear end sticking out there and I still don't like any of the cabriolet designs so no that the Speedster is back I'm excited again for a drop top 911. Those humps need to be bigger though.  It's just to bad this will be another over priced "Rare" Porsche model.

The 911 Speedster is going to be a limited production model to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Porsche Exclusive and a homage to the first Speedster the 356 Speedster with only 356 examples available in either Carrera White or a new Pure Blue color available only for the Speedster.

Porsche didn't just take a 911 Carrera Cabriolet rip out the rear seats and stick a double bubble hard cover over the soft top to make the Speedster.  A lot of work into developing the new Speedster.  Borrowing heavily from the new Carrera GTS with the same engine, driveline and wide track.  After that Porsche Exclusive steps up to the plate and adds all sorts of new details.  Back again are the  godawful updated Fuchs rims (easy enough to get rid of though) a lower stance as well as a lower and more raked windscreen.  You'll also find some new details like the black headlight trim covers and those old school black rock guards on the front of the rear quarter panels.

Again like the Carrera GTS this is a RWD only model that is mated to the seven speed PDK shifter with a all manner of tacked on goodies like the ceramic composite brakes and Porsche's Active Suspension Management.  In addition to all that the interior gets all spiffy with color matched accents on the seats and moldings.  You can actually check out all the important goodies and more images on Porsche's official Press Release.  The official unveiling of the Speedster will be at the Paris Autoshow alongside the the Carrera GTS.  Good lucking getting a hold of one of the 356 Speedsters because odds are there will be plenty of people already forking over the $270,037 (yeah that's more than the Sport Classic) needed to purchase one.  Maybe we'll get a poor man's Speedster after a while too.  Actually if it's like the Sport Classic you'll probably be able to pick one up used for $225,000 or so in a few months time.  All I know is that I wouldn't mind a diecast model of one assuming of course the model's price isn't horrendously marked up as well.

In any case you can check out the video that was released for the Speedster.

RQ Team: Jim Gainer Dixcel Gals

Another weekend another Race Queen Team Feature.  This week it'll be the third(?) Race Queen Team for the Jim Gainer Dixcel Dunlop GT300 Ferrari F430 which is going into the 8th round of the 2010 season in 8th place.  I've already featured the other Race Queen teams for the Jim Gainer team so it's finally time that I get to the last team the two member Dixcel Gals.

The Dixcel Gals Race Queen team is made up of the new comer Fumi (章恵) and Megumi Yano (矢野めぐみ)  each one is outfitted in a Light Tan (?) and red mini skirt and one sided halter top with Thigh high boots.  A small jacket rounds out the outfit but all together it's not nearly as impressive as their Tiger Gals counterparts that's for sure.   So it's a good thing both ladies can make up for it with their good looks as both are some of the better looking Race Queens this year. In addition to Super GT the Dixcel Gals also strut their stuff as Race Queens for the Dixcel Mitsubishi EVO running in the Super Taikyu series.

Both have done work with RQ-star Fumi this year and Megumi Yano last year or so.  Even though I no longer post links to uploads of RQ-star stuff it's not exactly hard to find working links still out there if you know what to search for.  I haven't seen either one working for any of the other pro RQ photoset companies yet.

That just means we'll be moving onto the real deal Race Queen pictures.  Remember to come back and check out the main sites after the other other two races this year for any updates. Also it's looking pretty sparse for pictures of the Dixcel Gals.

Porsche 911 Carrera GTS

Hey look at that Porsche introduced a new 911 Carrera model the other day badged as a Carrera GTS.  The official release of the new Carrera model will be at the Paris Auto show in October but for those with the $$$ I'm sure you could probably start ordering one now for it's December release.  In any case this new Carrera model will slot in at the top of the food chain for the Carreras and just under the GT model range.  Basically in a nut shell the Carrera GTS is the poor mans Sport Classic

No really think about it.  It really is a far less expensive (-$110K) Sport Classic without the awful rims and ducktail which for many is a love it or hate it item.  And you can pick your own color.  For that the Carrera GTS is a winner.

The Carrera GTS takes a C4 widebody shell adds a newly designed 3.8L engine that delivers 402hp to the 19inch centerlock RS Spyder wheels by way of the C2's RWD only system.  This allows the GTS to reach 60mph in 4.2 seconds on it's way to it's new top speed of 190mph. The GTS also adds a newly designed front bumper with black lip and side skirts.  All this and some new GTS graphics for a sum of $137k.  The Carrera GTS will be available with either a 6speed or Porsche's awesome PDK system.  How could you not want of these bad boys.

You can find a new Carrera GTS web special on their web site but you can't configure one just yet.  It looks like I'll need to be updating my little Porsche 911 model lineup gif some time soon. You can also check out the official Porsche Press Release here -- Carrera GTS PR  it includes some extra images so it's well worth the look.

In the mean time you can also check out the Porsche video for the Carrera GTS by way of WCF.

Ken Block Gymkhana 3 Part 1 and 2

Who hasn't been awaiting the all new Ken Block Gymkhana videos ever since he's announced the new car and that he's been working on the new videos.  Well about 6 hours ago we finally got the new video of Ken tearing up a course with his new Ford Fiesta.  We've been teased here and there with little bits of information and pictures for the upcoming video including a really well made music video that was released weeks ago that I didn't see until today as well.  Now that the video has been out let the reposting begin.

Another one of those interesting viral marketing bits for the video also came way of an ad on Craigslist for the ruined pair of VOLK rims from the video making the announcement of the release.  This was followed by an official press release which I never heard of (what the hell car blogs!) until after I started looking for information on the video after watching it.

A little bit about that mad insane Gymkhana Ford Fiesta that Ken Block is currently rocking. It's a 650hp and  660 pound-feet of tire shredding torque all being fed to the four corners by way of a 6 speed sequential tranny.  You can read more about the car here -- Autoblog.

The first video in the new series was a teaser of sort music video that featured the rappers The Cool Kids lots of black light neon and of course shattered Florescent light tubes and of course what would a rap video be without some hot honeys.  I'm sure this release wasn't what many of the fans of Ken's videos were looking forward to thankfully I got to watch it after the other one so I like it.

Check out Part 1 the music video

Thankfully for those who watched the music video first it was only a few weeks until Part 2 was released. Gymkhana 3 Part 2 takes place in France at the l'Autodrome de Linas --Montlhéry just outside of Paris.  I stole this from the video description of the video -- this 1.58 mile oval track, built in 1924, features banks as steep as 51 degrees, which is more than double the standard incline of most NASCAR ovals. Chosen by Ken for this specific reason, the ramp-like banking proved to be a unique and exciting challenge.  The video makes great use of those awesome bankings.  I can't do the video justice you'll just have to watch it yourself to see if you think this is the best of the best.

Check out Part 2 the real deal

RQ Team: ARTA Gals

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm still bummed about the cancellation of the 7th round of the Super GT series.  I was really looking forward to another great race and a bunch of new Race Queen pictures and hopefully videos but now it looks like there wont be anything new until the end of October.  Of course since it's already the end of the week it's time for the next RQ Team feature.  This week it's the ARTA Gals.  The four lady Race Queen Team that supports both the GT 500 ARTA Honda HSV-010 and the GT300 ARTA ASL Garaiya.

The two teams are at opposite ends of the leader board when it comes to the points championship.  Currently the GT300 odd looking ARTA Garaiya is leading the GT300 series with only 5 points separating it and the number 2 sport occupied by the M7 Re-Amemiya Racing RX7.  However the GT500 Honda HSV-010 is currently sitting in 11th place even after it's podium finish in the last round of the Super GT series.  I should also probably toss out there for those that don't know but ARTA stands for Autobacs Racing Team Aguri.

Now for those lovely Race Queens.  The ARTA Gals are the 4 member team of Yuriya Hasegawa (長谷川ゆりや), Mao Nagai (永井麻央), Sayuri Ui (宇井小百合) and Marina Murakami (村上まりな) and the outfit these Race Queens sport is one of most unique for it's a strapless orange dress (well it has those clear plastic straps but whatever), silver knee high boots and what really made this outfit suck for the most part of the year that large silver jacket that covered everything up.

I looked to see if any of the ARTA Gals did any professional RQ photo sets and not a single one of them has done anything (so far) for the likes of RQ-star, TopQueen or anything else so I guess I can just get a move on to posting the Race Queen pictures.  Don't forget to check out the main sites after each of the remaining races.

2010 Super GT Rd 7 CANCELLED

Went to YouTube this morning to see if there were any new cool videos and low and behold there's a new video from the guy who uploads those wonderful Super GT recaps.  Wonder what this could be...FUCK! Even though I don't speak Japanese I understood there was something really really bad going on and a quick Google translate later and my excitement for this weeks upcoming Super GT race was canceled.

That's when I decided to go check out Super and find out if the English site had an update or more information and sure enough here is the press release in all it's sadness...

We regret to inform you that the official decision has been made to cancel the 7th Round of the 2010 SUPER GT series scheduled to be held at Fuji Speedway on September 11 and 12 due to the serious damage in the locality of the Town of Oyama caused by Typhoon No. 9.

The effects of the typhoon included mudslides and other damage within the grounds of Fuji Speedway, and although reconstruction work is under way, there has also been severe damage to roads in the vicinity of the Speedway. It has become evident that attempting to hold the race as scheduled under such conditions would not only be an imposition on the spectators attempting to come to the race but could also seriously hinder the work of the local authorities and citizens to recover quickly from the typhoon damage. For this reason there has also been a request from the Oyama Town authorities to cancel the race.

Regarding refunds for customers who have already purchased tickets to the race, an announcement will be made separately in the near future. Therefore, we ask that all customers be sure to hold on to their tickets for the time being.

Fuji International Speedway Co., Ltd.
GTA Co., Ltd.

So it looks like the series is going to be one race short this year.  Now the next race points are going to be super critical for some.  And it wasn't to long ago that Toyota was having a Media day out there as well.  Here's to wishing Fuji Speedway and the surrounding area a speedy recovery and can be rebuilt before to long.  I'd show you the video that was uploaded about the carnage but he has embedding disabled for this video (hope that's not going to be the case for the rest of them) So you'll just have to check it out here.

Rauh-Welt in 0-60 magazine

I'll admit that I'm not a huge fan of most automotive magazines and when looking on the newsstands for the next DSPORT magazine I'll often see 0-60 magazine but I never did like the magazine so I never usually pay it any mind on the newsstand. Well the latest issue I did pay attention to after I saw that something great was on the inside. I only knew about it because after I saw the new videos on Mr. Ichiraku's blog I noticed some new magazine pictures and caught the cover and said to my self "I've seen that cover".

That meant that once I got paid I headed down to Barnes & Noble looking for the Summer 2010 issue of 0-60 magazine that had included an Article on one of my favorite Porsche Tuner companies Rauh-Welt Begriff .  Sure enough it was still there so I grabbed it and the latest issue of Excellence because it had the new Porsche 911 GT2RS on the cover and I just couldn't help myself.

Overall I'd have to say that the pictures and article are pretty nice, some pictures of the Stella Artois 964 and the Bordeaux 993 shot at night in Tokyo and in the Yamate Tunnel which I can only imagine as an awesome sound.  The article isn't all about the cars but delves a little bit more into the owner Akira Nakai's working life style.  A man who only wakes up before noon to take delivery of a car.  Working late into the night in solitude in what can only be described as a working man's man cave.  No pretty, clean and industrial type typical Japanese workshop here.

I'm not about to spoil the whole article for you as you should be reading it yourself.  There should be still plenty of copies left out there on newsstands of the Summer 2010 issue of 0-60 magazine but the best kicker is there are more pictures and video on their website article.  Nice big wallpaper size pictures.  Actually I'm just going to borrow the video since it's on YouTube so you can check it out here.  It's nice to see American automotive media taking an interesting in something like this and giving those of us who are fans, but don't know much about RWB, a better insight into the company and people responsible.

RQ Team: Denso Sard Racing Queen

As it's Friday (yet again) that means it's time for another RQ Team Feature and this week's Team is the three girl Race Queen Team of Denso Sard Racing Queen.  This Race Queen team supports the GT500 Lexus Team Sard SC430.  Currently the team is not having a good year sitting in second to last place (only better than the dead last place team of Nakajima Racing) in the GT500 point standings.  With only two pointed races left in the season before the last and final round of the All Star Series it's not looking good for Lexus Team Sard but that doesn't bean the ladies of the Race Queen Team aren't out there during every race giving it their all.  The next race is next weekend on Sept 12th.

The three lady Race Queen Team is made up of the following three cutie Asian ladies.  First is Mina Momohara (桃原美奈), then there is Riona Osaki (大崎莉央奈) and finally Asuka (柚崎明日香) who I can't find a good translation of her name as of yet so we'll just leave it as Asuka for now. If any one knows what her full name is let me know so I can fix it.  In any case The Denso Sard Race Queens have a pretty simple outfit which is mostly a white with a few red trim pieces.  It's a nice mini skirt, tube top with straps, jacket and high heel boots.  Occasional their tops will change from DENSO to SARD and back again.  I don't know why though.  Nothing to outrageous or revealing just a standard outfit for this year really.

So lets get this party started and see if any of these lovely Race Queens have done any professional RQ stuff.  Mina has definitely been a busy lady with sets from RQ-Star, TopQueen and BWH's Hyper Race Queen Girl.  However, the other two ladies haven't done anything that I can find.  Here are the Top Queen sets
Mini Momohara -- TQ1, TQ2 and MQ1

RWB Green Ichiraku VIDEOS!

While surfing the great information soup that is the World Wide Web I went to one of my favorite Japanese car blogs and found some new interesting videos on YouTube.  I instantly knew what I was going to blog about tomorrow.  And it's now tomorrow so time to do some blogging about those awesome videos.  The website I visited was one of the very few blogs by an owner of a RWB Porsche and usually he has a few new smallish pictures of his green 964 Widebody RWB Porsche every time I visit and occasionally some other RWB cars as well.  Well this time there was a link to a YouTube video.

You better believe that I immediately clicked on the link and watched said video clip, several times.  In all the YouTube channel has 9 videos currently; 4 for the Green 964 and 2 for a Blue and White 993.  There are also three short videos of a late night Porsche gathering that had a good number of other RWB cars as well.

I'm a huge fan of the Rauh-Welt Begriff  (blog) tuner for Porsches so to say I was enjoying the new videos is an understatement.  I was giggling like a school girl and jamming out the interesting sound track included with some of the videos.  The roommate even wondered what the hell I was doing as I had the speakers turned up a bit high at first.  I have to say that the car looks good in pictures but damn the car is just wicked in the videos.  The music I'm not a huge fan of though. In any case I just wanted to share these awesome new videos with other RWB fans.  Now I just hope he gets some videos with the car in action.

Here's the fist (non music included thankfully) video of the Green Ichiraku
