More RWB magazines

I seriously needed to get this out before the new year and I've been sitting on these magazines for a while now. I've read them photographed them and now here they are finally.  And I have something else as well from the land of the rising sun and our friends 7Tune.  Oh yeah! I finally have a RAUH-Welt Begriff shirt and I can't wear it because Nakai-san signed it and I don't want to have to wash it and wash off the signature.  I should have also bought the lighter and ash tray from Fatlace but oops ran out of disposable income.

Merry Christmas

I did the big Naughty girl Merry Christmas post over on the Anime blog and didn't even think about doing one for the car blog but I just wanted to say Merry Christmas to the car fans and may you all have a wonderful festive time with family and friends and may you also have trouble free and safe journeys this holiday season.

Please remember don't drink and drive this holiday season.  There is no excuse or reason to do so.

Project Jetta Part 8

Or the "OH MY GOD I BLEW MY FREAKING HEAD GASKET, oh wait maybe not" post.  Actually I did a few extra things to the car as well and have picked up a few new things for it as well.  I no longer have a big empty hole in the dash where the radio went.  It's been filled finally.  But about that head gasket.  Let me tell you I had a freaking bad scare today when I went to Wally World and yeah things went down hill from there but thankfully before I headed to bed things were looking up.

2012 Porsche 911 (991) part 2

It's been a while since I've written about the latest and greatest 911 to come out of Stuttgart and I figured since it's been officially released here in the States finally I can do a bit more in detail and depth review on the assortment of new things that have come out since my first blog post about it.  I'll have to wait until some time in January or February before I can get my first look at a real deal here in Boise at the local Porsche dealer though.

Idlers Games Rd 3

Holy smokes the last round of the Idlers Games for 2011 is only 6 days away and I still haven't gotten the 3rd round up on the blog I better get cracking on that right away.  Yup that's what I told myself today and so here we are.  I did a bit more searching around for content (last time I looked there wasn't much) and found enough stuff to keep things interesting.  They also have the results up as well.  Something I'm usually waiting for but they got them up pretty fast this last time around.  The next and final round for 2011 is on Dec 10th so look forward to that but in the mean time lets take a look at Rd 3.

Exciting Porsche Meeting

While I love the annual Porsche Oktoberfast meeting here in Idaho it's a shrimp of a show compared to the ones in Japan especially the end of the year annual Exciting Porsche Meeting that is held at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse at the beginning of November.  And yes I know its now December but hey sometimes you gotta wait to see all the goodies that have come out from other people's blogs about the event especially since I've yet to attend this awesome car show.

Project Jetta Part 7

Well it's time for another installment of what has Gregory done to his Jetta.  We're on part 7 and a lot has been done since the last part.  Well OK maybe not A LOT but I've done some stuff that is worth noting at least. Bought some new windshield wipers as the freebies are already shot.  Still have to put them on though they are sitting in the trunk still.  And that is were a lot of stuff has happened with this update.  Well that and the wink mirror.

Himegami Gadget

Here is another, from what I've seen, great automotive related manga from the great mind of Asamiya Kia and this time it's aimed at the JDM tuner market.  Himegami Gadget (姫神様ガジェット) is the story of a super cute female personality that resides in the hero's car, in this case a Subaru Impreza WRX STi, that can transform into a giant robot to battle it out with cars that can also transform.  Yup that's right take a little bit of Wangan Midnight, Transformers and add a slice of fanservice mix it all together and you have Himegami Gadget.

Kanojo no Carrera

I posted about Kanojo no Carrera on my anime blog several months ago and didn't copy it over to here because I didn't think it really belonged but after thinking about it some more I've decided to include this blog post (updated as well) from the anime blog and add later a post about another automotive manga that interests me called Himegami Gadget from the same author.  So without further ado here is my old blog post about the best darn Porsche themed Manga ever.

So the other day while looking for more Japanese Porsche Porn I came across a meet up called the Porsche Central Meet and one of the cars there was a Pink Strosek Speedster.  Surrounding that Porsche were some Anime looking Standies with a plaque that had a bit of English on it.  It said My Favorite Carrera.  So I did a bit of digging using that word and came up with a new favorite Manga that for me is a must read and something that I really wish they would turn into an anime.  That Manga is Kanojo no Carrera (彼女のカレラ) or in English My Favorite Carrera.

Stop Mechanophilia Comments Now

Excuse my rant but I gotta just say....  If this picture were posted to Facebook today I can guarantee that you would find an assortment of the following comments.  OMG that car makes my pants tight.  Oh man that car made me mess my pants.  Oh yeah I just came looking at how hot that beast of a car is.  I came. I need to clean myself.  Spooge! I need to clean my monitor now. I could go on but really I think you get the point.  More and more you see those types of comments popping up everywhere cars are being discussed.  And I find this trend disgusting and mindbogglingly stupid.  Why?  Well when I read comments like that the first thing that comes to mind is this horrid picture.  Yeah NSFW by the way.  Oh and in my mind that makes you totally look like you have Mechanophilia, congrats I hope you enjoy that tailpipe.

Autocross: Oct. 30, 2011

Lotus Elise One
Well it's that time of the year.  Autocross is over and done with for the Snake River Region until some time in late March next year.  The last event weekend was held on the big lot at the Idaho Center and while the event was Saturday and Sunday once again I went along to film on Sunday.  This time I brought something new to play with myself.  Wait that didn't sound right.

RWB Invades America

I'm bummed that there are three, soon to be four, RAUH-Welt Begriff Porsche cars in the states currently and not a one of them is mine.  But I did get a couple cool stickers from them the other day and one of them is stuck proudly on my photography case.  In the mean time the three finished RWB cars are making their debut at SEMA and the fourth one is patiently awaiting it's turn to be built in Texas.

Rennsport Reunion IV

If there was ever a Porsche event that you absolutely had to add to your bucket list attending the Rennsport Reunion would be it.  Basically it's a gathering of the past, present and future of Porsche Motorsports.  And these cars just don't sit around looking pretty.  Nope they take those million dollar babies out on the track come hell or concrete barrier and go racing.  And if you call yourself a Porsche fan than you have to make the trek to one of these events a must.  This years event was held at the Famous Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Love And Free Auto Festival 2011

Didn't see anything you liked at Hellaflush? Thought it was missing some exotic flair or a touch of the Japanese tuned American brands? Have a thing for Mexiflush hoppers and all things lowrider and Donk?  Well lucky you that's just about what the latest car show out of Japan is all about. Love and Free Auto Festival had probably the rest of the car tuning genres that weren't at hellaflush. There were some 600 cars and 120 Japanese tuner shops on a muddy field and the main reason why I checked it out is (if you couldn't already guess) because DP Challenge was there with a small sampling of RAUH-Welt Begriff cars. So once again I came for the RWB goodness and stayed for the laughs...er I mean the other cars as well.

2011 Oktoberfast Porsche Car Show

What started as a dark and stormy week turned into a wonderful sunny and gorgeous day on Sunday just in time for this year's Oktoberfast Porsche Car Show.  This year the car show moved from it's former down town spot out to the parking lot of the recently opened Ling and Louie's Asian Bar and Grill in Meridian, ID.  The Silver Sage PCA holds the annual Oktoberfast Car Show in memory of Ernie Ludwig and this years event had a great turn out of fantastic Porsche cars and I was there to take in the sights and snap away with my camera.

VAD+RWB= Number One

Nakai-san has been globetrotting about the world spreading RAUH-Welt Begriff goodness in his wake. His latest stop was in United Kindom at the shop of Vogue Auto Design (VAD) where the first ever European RWB993R was built.  VAD is an aftermarket bespoke 3 piece wheel specialty shop that has been chosen to help expand the RWB brand into the European market.  Nakai-san stopped by in late September to help sort out the first car and to show VAD builders the RWB build philosophy.  The end result, one heck of a gorgeous RWB993R called Number One.

2011 Idlers Games Rd2

I always look forward to the Idlers Games event ever since I found out about them and the cars that race there.  As a fan of RAUH-Welt Begriff there is almost nothing better than an Idlers Games event to bring a whole host of them out to run at the Tsukuba Circuit.  The latest round happened a couple weekends ago (on Sept 25th) and I was waiting for results and some super cool content to be rolled out before I did my own post.  The results are out but that super cool content is still a ways off so I'm going to do the blog and update it when that super cool content comes out.  And this round had an extra special meaning for me.

Hellaflush X Japan

I was thinking that the Hellaflush X Japan car show was going to be a decent sized show that would showcase the Japanese take on cars doing the Hellaflush hardparking thing.   In all reality I probably would have only checked it out in passing since I'm not a big fan of that scene. I like my cars more function over form and hellaflush is all about the form.  However, I heard that some RWB friends were going to be heading to the event as well and that changed my mind about checking it out.

Rush Cup 3hr @ Suzuka

There are three racing series in Japan that I really enjoy following and two of them are heavy on the RAUH-Welt Begriff content.  The first is of course the Idler's Games and the second is the Rush Cup series which has a few less RWB cars but also has a larger mix of Porsche models to enjoy watching and looking at.  And if you're a fan of Race Queens hands down the Rush Cup RQ's are the best.  But lets get back to those RWB cars shall we.

Project Jetta part 6

It's been a while since I've done a project Jetta post and I've only done a few things here and there.  Nothing to major.  Lets see what have I done to the Jetta since last time.  The biggest improvement was the front grill improvement.  Did some fun driving in the car and added a sticker or two and some other assorted junk.

Upcoming Porsche Car Show

To be honest I always get super excited for one car show during the year and that's the Oktoberfast Car Show.  This year it has been moved from it's cramped down town location out to Eagle, ID in the parking lot of the recently opened Ling and Louie's Asian Bar and Grill.  This will be my fourth year of attending the show to take pictures and I expect to see a lot of stuff that I've already seen and hopefully a lot of stuff that I haven't seen.

2011 Bogus Basin Bacchanalia

This last Saturday I took the ol' Jetta up Bogus Basin Road to watch some Porsche cars attack the road in the only official Porsche Club of America (PCA) hillcross.  The event, which also includes other festivities like a rally, dinners and a mystery event,  is held by the Silver Sage Region of the PCA annually (usually on Memorial Day weekend but weather caused it to be moved to early September this year) and is called the Bogus Basin Bacchanalia.

Autocross: August 28, 2011

It's been a while since I've last been to an autocross event and it'll be a while before I'm at another one as I'll be missing the next two events for various reasons. The good thing is that there will be at least two more after that before the end of the season. So lets get back to this event, held out at the Dealer Auto Auction Site under the hot blasting August Sun for a full day of rubber burning good fun.

RWB Global

Of course the first new post on the new blog should be about RAUH-Welt Begriff.

Remember the first time I mentioned that RAUH-Welt Begriff (RWB) was branching out from their little shop in the Chiba Prefecture back when they opened up their Facebook page and US website and there were rumblings about them opening other shops. Well it's starting to all come together with shops being built, parts being shipped and cars getting built along with future plans being made.

FOS Sticker Ideas

Ever since I've started this blog I've thought about making some stickers for the blog but have always put it off thinking that I'd be the only one interested in them.  However, recently a few people have asked if I have stickers for the blog and the sticker idea that has been sitting on the back burner suddenly became relevant. Definitely couldn't hurt, especially when one of those people happens to own one of my favorite RAUH-Welt Begriff cars and said he'd rock one on the car at the next Idlers Games.

2011 af imp Super Carnival

Normally I wouldn't really be covering a Japanese Car show for Euro Imports but then something happened to change my mind.  RAUH-Welt Begriff took a few cars to the show so that got me interested and while I came to droll over the RWB cars I have to admit that I did like a lot of the other Euro Import cars that were at the show as well.  Might have to pay a little more attention to that scene too.

2011 IMS Dyno Day

After the hot hot day at the Import Revolution Car Show and another long night at work it was time to head on down to Motor Mayhem for another day of local automotive shenanigans.  This time around it was an Idaho Motorsports organized dyno day.

2011 Import Revolution 208

It's August in Idaho and it's hot as hell outside and as a red head it takes a lot to get me out of an air conditioned house to brave the heat of the day and that something is car related.  This past weekend it was a car show that I've been looking forward to since people on Idaho Motorsports started talking about the idea.  Import Revolutionv 208 aka IR208 was formulated, put into action and finally on August 6, 2011 the Boise, ID area finally had another Import Car show.  About damn time, and worth braving the heat of the August sun for.

Porsche Zero to Anywhere Street Drive Event

While the Sun Valley Road Rally was taking place in Sun Valley, ID there was also a fun Porsche North America sponsored driving event taking place that weekend as well.  Lyle Pearson Porsche of Boise was helping to host the event.  Porsche North America brought out a hand full of their fleet vehicles to take people on a 45 minute drive to experience what it's like to drive a Porsche.  We didn't find this out until after we checked out the cars entered into the Sun Valley Road Rally and the roommate and I headed back up to the Porsche tent area and found out what was happening there.

2011 Sun Valley Road Rally

This last weekend we skipped the local autocross event to head up to Sun Valley, ID for the Sun Valley Road Rally.  An organized open road high speed challenge to help raise money for the Blaine County Community Drug Coalition.  This is a once a year opportunity to take your fast (or not so fast as it were) car out to a three mile stretch of Highway 75 to run it as fast as you can for up to three runs.  It's not cheap to run but the money raised goes to a worthy cause and we were there to watch the action.

RAUH-Welt @ Idler's 12hr+9min Enduro Race

I've been sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for official results of the Idlers Games 12hr+9min Endurance Race before I posted up what I thought about the race but so far there just hasn't been anything released. So I think I'll just have to trudge on now and come back after I get some official results. I was actually surprised at how little news and information has been released to date for the RWB Crew considering how much stuff came out at the last Idler's Games event. In any case this is my take on one hell of a day of racing.

My Favorite Carrera -- Itasha

It's no secret that one of my favorite manga series is a Porsche themed story about a lady and her 911 Carrera RS called My Favorite Carrera also known as Kanojo no Carrera (彼女のカレラ) and I have blogged about the manga series on my anime themed blog before.  You can read about that here -- My Favorite Carrera.  Normally I wouldn't mix the two blogs but when the Idlers Games 12h+9min enduro race rolled around I couldn't help myself when an Itasha BMW decked out in Kanojo no Carrera vinyls made it's appearance.

2012 Porsche 911 (991) Teaser

There has been a lot of rumors and speculations floating about the interwebs about what new and awesome things the new Porsche 911 (model #991) will be sporting when it is finally unveiled in a few more months when the new car hits the stage of the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.  There have been a few official releases of little bits of information and I've not really paid much attention to those release just because I want to see the whole picture later this year.  But then Porsche goes and does something interesting this week.

NocternoX -- July 16, 2011

Remember how I said at the beginning of the autocross season that I wasn't going to attend the NocternoX events due to work and other commitments that I was involved with?  Well guess what, thanks to my roommate telling me that I had to be there to film one of the members getting an award at this week's event during the driver's meeting I ended up attending the now only NocternoX of the season (more on that later) at least until I had to leave for my friend's birthday party.  Little did I know what was to come.

2011 Northwest Motorfest

Hit up the annual Northwest Motorfest early in the morning on Saturday this last weekend.  Walked around took some pictures and thanks to a pair of Porsche 911 cars I did actually enjoy myself.  Billed as the biggest car show in Idaho the Northwest Motorfest is held on the grass at Expo Idaho and it was a bright and sunny morning for some good photos.

Porsche 911 Turbo S China Edition

Just when I thought Porsche was done releasing new 997 models of the Porsche 911 some time ago they pulled another one out of their hats for the 10th anniversary of Porsche's presence in China.  The latest and so far last 997 edition of the 911 is a very limited production run of some specially equipped 911 Turbo S models.

RAUH-Welt Featured in Super Street

Thanks to Facebook I found out that RAUH-Welt Begriff was going to have a feature in the August 2011 issue of Super Street (explains the Super Street vinyls on "Tunerhaus" at the latest Idlers Game).  The issue came out on Tuesday and I was able to find it at Wally World this morning.

Porsche Returns to LeMans in 2014

Oh yeah Porsche has announced that it will return to the top tear of racing.  In 2014 Porsche will be entering an all new LMP1 class car at LeMans.  As a Porsche fan who has loved and followed their racing career I can't help but to be excited to see a new Porsche LMP1 car running at LeMans.  But damn 2014 us sooooo far away.

RAUH-Welt Videos Galore

A facebook friend and avid RAUH-Welt Begriff fan like myself suggested on the RWB facebook page that they should upload all the Videos onto one channel.  Only problem with that is that there are actually a lot of videos out there and it would take some time to download and re-upload all those videos to one place, so I've gone and done the next best thing.

Bus Pilot Association Family Runion Car Show 2011

With local Ford club car show in the rearview mirror I happened to find myself at the Lakeview Park in Nampa ID on Sunday for another more interesting (in my opinion) car show.  This week it was the 17th Annual Bus Pilots Association Family Reunion Car Show.  While I'm not a hug Volkswagen bus and bug fan I do like them a whole lot more than Fords and Muscle cars so I was more pumped about this car show than last weeks.  Also it doesn't hurt when friends are there with their rocking VWs.

Because I'm not a big bus and bug fan this is the first Family Reunion Car Show that I've been too.  I could go on and on about the various Bugs and Buses that were there and there was a healthy dose of every type that you could imagine really.  Toss in a couple off roaders, Karmann Ghias and one sweet Squareback for a good turn out at this year's Family Reunion.

VW Jetta GL WolfsburgBut none of those are really my cup of tea.  I'm more of a VW hatch and sedan fan.  And there just wasn't a whole lot of those there.  My friend and her friends were all in their own little group together showing off the Golf group with a lone MkII Jetta Wolfsburg next to them.  My friend's GTi was looking killer with the new BBS rims powder coated by Moda Metals

I was quite interested in the Jetta myself.  I liked the clean paint and the shiny black molding which I want to get done myself.  I didn't care much for the smoked lenses but I did like the clear turn signals.  I really want to get those but with LEDs.  Something I definitely didn't like though were the white rims.  I just don't like white on white color schemes.  Then there was the cracked windshield, totally killed the overall look of the car.

One of the things that I didn't like overall about the car show is more of a photography nitpick than anything else.  With all the cars parked under or around the trees at the park it made it difficult to get some really good pictures and most of my pictures have blown out backgrounds trying to get a good image of the car in the shade.  Add in the various shade patterns created by the leaves and everything else I honestly only think my pictures are snapshot worthy but they are uploaded to flickr for you to check out and pass your own judgement.  You can check out the flickr set here -- Bus Pilot Association Family Reunion Car Show

Porsche Boxster Spyder
I was also hoping that a couple of the Volkswagen's cousin would show up but the only Porsche that I saw there was an engine from a Porsche 356 in the Karmann Ghia Cabriolet. Since there just wasn't any at the show on my way home I stopped off at the Porsche dealership and snapped some quick and dirty images of the Porsche Boxster Spyder that they had recently gotten in.  I can't wait for the Sun Valley Road Rally since Porshe is supposed to be  a big part of it.

I didn't take any video but someone for the Bus Pilot Association (<--check out their Facebook page) took a video of the event which you can check out here.

2011 Treasure Valley Mustang and Ford Car Show

With a bit of a break in the Autocross schedule I need to keep my self occupied and what better way than to find my way to some local car shows.  So this last Saturday I took a drive out to the Lakeview Park in Nampa for the 2011 Treasure Valley Mustang and Ford Club Car Show.

Now I'm not a big Mustang or even Ford fan so you're probably thinking why even bother.  Well any chance to get in some photography is a good thing.  That and the roommate's father is a member so I knew about it and I was bored so yeah it just seemed like a thing to do.

Plus the last time I went there was a pretty decent turn out of imports as well.  Not this year though, and unlike previous years they were all spread out.  There wasn't even a Ford GT like the previous year either.  I was bummed but what can you do.  I did run into a fellow Autocrosser who brought his cool looking Ford Econoline Pick-up.  Complete with Pussy Wagon keychain.

IMG_9744As far as Mustangs go there was some cool stuff like the new Boss 302 and the local Ford dealership had a new Shelby GT500 there as well.  It could be yours for a cool $57k.   However, a lot of what was out there I've seen before at previous years.

I ran the gauntlet of cars taking my pictures and people watching.  It's always interesting to do that sometimes more than looking at the cars.  Especially when you're not especially interested in the cars at the show.  I noticed a gaggle of "gang-bangers" scoping out the one military vehicle there, but they weren't interested in the vehicle just the Browning Ma-Deuce.  Add in the various people who think they know what they are talking about but are so far off that even some one with a little bit of knowledge would know they were full of it.

IMG_9694Unfortunately mother nature was still acting up and the day was filled with an overcast sky.  I was lucky that I went early enough to miss out on the rain that soon started to fall. I finished editing the pictures that I took this morning and uploaded them to flickr and you can check out the set here -- Mustang and Ford Car Show.

RAUH-Welt at Idlers Games 2011

There is one thing every RAUH-Welt fan should look forward to and that's the Idlers Games a place where cars of various types gather to race in a more relaxed atmosphere than what you would normally find at other types of race series.  And while the groups are varied one thing you'll find plenty of at the Idlers Games are RAUH-Welt Begriff tuned Porsche 911 cars and that makes it a mecca for any RWB fan.  Thankfully with the rise in internet popularity of the RWB brand there were plenty of photographers on hand to snap some pictures and get some video at the latest Idlers Games event.

Unfortunately for me since I'm here in Idaho very very far away from the action I don't get to go and get my own content.  That doesn't mean I can't put my Google-fu to work and round up some awesome content from other sources on the Internet.  Form what I've already seen posted up I really think there had to be a pretty good number of press people out there.  I'm thinking maybe 4 racers to every 1 photographer so hopefully there will be a large amount of pictures and videos uploaded to the internet and in good quality sizes as well.

While I'm most interested in the RAUH-Welt cars you can find plenty of other 911 cars from various other Porsche Tuner shops in Japan.  I've seen names like Sunburst, Promodet, Minerva, Challenge and UZI (the actual RWB UZI car was not looking all that healthy sporting some nasty battle scars stitched up with what seems like an entire stores worth of zip-ties from an earlier race) as well. Add in some what I call Plain Jane 911s for good measure.  However, Idlers isn't all about just Porsches though, with some 24 different race classes there is a large variety of machinery out there racing.  Literally something for everyone to like.

Idlersclub has posted the results for the race from June 12, 2011 and you can check that out here -- RESULTS.  The none linked ones are the preliminary rounds followed by Finals by class (middle section) and then Finals overall (bottom section).  It looks like the next round for the idlersclub will be a12hr enduro race on July 17th and I expect that there will still be

Of course what would a Japanese Race be without some Race Queens.   The Idlers Games has two of their own in the form of Ms. Misaki and Ms.Camellia.  One thing I'll say about the RQ's they need to get them some shoes that are the right size.  Seriously.

Now then how about I stop yapping and start showing you the goods.  I'll update it as I find more stuff as it usually takes a while for everything to find it's way to the internet.  In the mean time enjoy what I've been able to find so far.

2011 Super GT Rd 1 -- Okayama 250km

Since the third round of the 2011 Autobacs Super GT race is scheduled for next week I think I should really get my ass in gear and get my blog post of the 1st round up now before I get really far behind.  As we all know the 1st round was originally postponed due to the Earthquake and Tsunami and was rescheduled to happen after the second round.  Now we are back on schedule and ready to hopefully finish out this race season without any more hiccups.
Since Super GT has cut back on their digest video that they release and I haven't found a short video of the race to watch this year I'm going to not have a long lengthy recap of the race like I'd like.  But I think I may have found something that would help out with that but until then we'll just have to deal with it this way.

Copy and Paste time.  Actually I won't even do that.  You can read a great right up of the race from the English Super GT site here -- Okayama 250k, recap

GT500 --
Was won by the Nissan GT-R of Team Calsonic Impul  finishing behind them in second place was the Honda HSV-010 of Team Raybrig and third place went to another Honda HSV-010 this time from team Keihin.  With this the team standings still finds Team Nismo in 1st place over all followed by Calsonic Impul and Petronas Tom's.  The new teams are showing good progress coming in at 7th for Team WedSport and 9th for Team Mola

GT300 --
I'm still pulling for the Itasha cars to collect some good points and finish in some top spots but this race wasn't for them.  It was an all Foreigner top three (not really hard considering) with the Aston Martin of team Triple A clinching it's first win ever in 1st place.  Second place went to the Jim Gainer Ferrari 458 followed by another first time podium finisher the Rire Racing Lamborghini RG-3.  With two second place finishes the Jim Gainer Ferrari 458 actually ends up at the top of the points race.

You can find the total points standing here -- 2011 Point Rankings
